To administer the wills of all persons w.:o by appointing the Public Trustee as their executor secure the guarantee of the Mate for the due fu filracnt of their wishi-s an_l avoid the risk consequent on the appointment of private persons as executors, who not unfrcquently, though earnestly desirous of acting for the benefit of parties interested, fail to cany out legally the objects for which they were appointed, »nd consequently iuvolve themselves and those whose interests. they are striving to piotect m costly and harassing litigation. 3. To take one administration of all estates of whioli no disposition has been made by will, whenever relatives do not wish to injure the responsibility of administration, or cannot from any cause obtain the necessary powers to act. In such casts it is the duty of the Public | Trus.ee to discharge all legal debts so far j the assets extend, and divide the residue amongst the next of kin. 4. To take charge of, and grant lease or all 'ands lying waste and unoccupied of which the owner is unknown, or who has been absent from the Colony for ton years having left no known agent.
