"With "his usual courtesy Mr. Deighton",. the census-enumei'ator, has kindly/forwarded us a Jeopy of the agricultural statistics for the Manawatu. District, and we are now enbriefly, the following totals : — Total -populat-ion,-B,BIXX;_ number of dwellings, 1,985 ; iotal number of hold--irigsj- 565 ;' extent* of 3and broken _up, but. not under crops, 1,590. In wheat, acres sbwn-*with /grain : bnly, 3,434 j;- estimated gross pi*oduce m bushels, 65,395. Iv oats ; for green food or 'hay, 345 ; for grain, 1,078; -estimated gross produce of grain, 31,458. . In -barley ;. acres . sown for grain only, iSO; estimated" ' gross prbdiic§, 'B,624.
