John Brown was charged by G-eorga Elderihaw -with being illegally on his premi.tes orf the 14th inst, ; ■ Constable Q-illespie: stated, that at nine o'clock on the previous erening he had been sent for by ,Mr.;. Elde^shaw ; and :found the Erisoner .coiled up on some. sacks m the bakeouse. As he could gire no account of bimsflf, he was taken into custody, several personi harinf complained of his conduct within the prerious few days. The Magistrate said he would consider he was doing the accused a kindness m, sanding him tojgabl, as he admitted htring no work; no money, and no home. Prisoner was thea committed, to Wanganui Gaol for seven days.
