"STAMPING-" OUT A NUISANCE.
I certainly am no admirer of the Hall • Government, nor can. I, refer to one single act of *heirs worthy of cdrnmendation (unless forwarding the Times some- Government advertisements) but I hear they are about repealing an order of thoir predecessors, which during its brief existence ha§ provoked more inward, 'muttered and open cursing than ten jubileas would wash away. I refer to the insane regulation of. demanding stamps for costs, m the inferior law cQu^ta. I have asked everyjudicialfunetionairjr- from the bailiff to the. Crown Prosecutor, and not a single official could give a reason, for its institution, or say a word m its favor. It entails more expense upon the department for the printing of the stamps, it is a, great increase of labor to the unfortunate Court officials, and it; is a curse-evoking, soul-impei'illing instrument to litigants. And Cvi bono ?~ none whatever, unless it is presumed to be. a check upon the court officers, who could not safely be trusted with cash. Let the Hon. , Mr. RoUeston revoke the order, and I am prepared to cut a deep, nick m the post I hav.e set up, as a Government tally. ".■..' , .
