STRANGE BUT TRUE.

Under this heading th'e " Bendigo Advertiser " says : — 'Wonders will never cease as long "as there is faith , on the eautb, and the latest illustration of this remark lies in that germ of life — an egg. The particulars, as related to us, are a's follows; — On Wednesday last, at 4.30 p.m., a woman named Perkins, residing at the back of the Mechanies' Institute", happened to pass the door of her hen-house at the moment her daughter, a girl seventeen years of age, came out with an egg in her hand, exclaiming excitedly, " Look, ma-, look, something good is coming to us-: look at what is written on this' egg." Mrs Perkins- opened her eyes with astonishment on seeing, traced on the shell, in plain, neat, handwriting, " Let us be' happy." She had been very ill for some time, and hardly able to ctfawl about; but now, under the inspiring influence of what she conceived to be a heavenly message, strength returned to her body and. contentment to her mind, and she has since been able to scrub floors and clean up generally with a vigor most surprising to herself. ; That it was a message from spirit land written with a pen dipped in. the ethereal blue is Mrs Perkin's firm belief. She' solemnly swears by all that is holy that she never wrote it, i and she cannot conceive the. possibility of any one else having done so. She further states that her daughter says that the writing must have been on the egg when the hen laid it, for when she went fa see J if there were any eggs the hen rose from her nest, and there was the eggy quite' warm . The hen, top,- appeared to be greatly excited and set up an immense cackling, while the old rooster chimed in with apparent delight. Mrs PerMns says Her' daughter is rather eccentric, and for a long time has been in the habit of inspecting the eggs, under the impression that good news would come through them 1 . The egg was brought to the office : of a noted spiritualist,who at once suggested, if a trick *had not been'' played, that a' genuine spirit communication had been received, and' that in all probability Miss Perkins was a valuable" medium ; or it might be that some of- the magnetism pervading his office had been carried home by Mrs Perkins," either about her person or in some old matting she had received, and hence the spirit attraction and writing.The egg is to be seen at Mrs Per-<" kin's house,- carefully Urid by in a - small bos.
