TO .THE liDITOE. Sib, — Permit me to take advantage I of your columns to a<.k the members of the Church of England m these districts how or why it is that they allow themj selves to become the laughing stock of other denominations m the matter of pablic worship? In a iudden outburst | of zeal churches were erected at Palmerston and Foxton, and 'what is the result ? At Palmerston "they have only | one service per month, for whidli they , are indebted to the kindness^of a clergyman who travels from Otaki for the purpose. At Foxton is a clergyman resident in. the town; but even there, there is only an evening service, save on very rare occasions. When, Sir, I witness the labours of other denominations, and then reflect" on the lethargy and supineness of- the Anglican Church, I almost feel induced to forsake the church m whose membership I was brdugTit up, and 1 to ' join one of those other protestarit- denominations, the members of which, by their energy or enthusiasm, do at all events show that -they believe that which they profess. Regretting that I am compelled to write thus. — I am, &c, ' t '\ " Anglican.
