Dear Sir, — Will: you please be kind enough to give me the following information m reference to the toll gate charges at the Gorge, Manawatu, "viz., whether the collector (Mr Ross) is empowered to charge twice, that is for crossing and re-crossing on the same day. I may state that I had an occasion to cross the bridge on Sunday last and I paid the usual fee for crossing, but on my return the collector demanded another payment, which I refused to pay, and I told him that I would write to you about it. If the demand is just I am willing to pay it, but if it is"not notice should be sent to the collector at once. r . By attending to the above you will greatly oblige, Your obedient servant, • : . S..
