MR R. COULTER M.P.

DEATH AT TIMARU

(Press Assn.) TIMARU, Deo. 31. At Timaru today the death occurred of Mr Robert Coulter, M.P. for Raglan, after a long illness.

Born in Christchurch in 1891 Mr Coulter settled in Te Aroha in 1904. He was a member of the Borough Cotuicil for a number of years and Mayor for a long time. He was also a member of the Thames Harbour Board for nearly 20 years, and chairman for a number of years. Mr Coulter was the member for Waikato from 1935 to 1938 and was defeated for the Hauraki seat in 1938 by the late LieutColonel. J. M., Allen. He won the Raglan seat for the Labour Party ,at the last election on the retirement of Mr W. Lee Martin.
