RECRUITING OFFICER
BRITISH MINING INDUSTRY. (Rec 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 27. To attract more labour to the coalmines the Minister of Fuel (Mr Shinwell) has appointed Mr Noel 1.. NewBome director of recruitment in the Ministry of Fuel and Power. Mr Newsome who is aged 40 yearn became a director of the 8..8.C. European service in 1939 and served later in the psychological warfare .division of Snaer. The Exchange Telegraph Agency says that Mr Shinwell is satisfied that the new prospects for the industry tinder public ownership.make it a promising career. Reorganised and highly mechanised, the methods of the future call for a high degree of tetjmoa knowledge, training for which should especially appeal to boys with a mechanical bent. Moreover, the high wage level, security, improved safety health and welfare.and housing Millties present an entirely new picture of the mining life of which. Mr Shinwell thin£ the fc public should be enhghtened. _____
