REMARKABLE FINISH

ENGLISH STEEPLECHASE. (Rec. 12.5 p.m.) LONDON, Dec. 26. A horse which had been withdrawn from the course and returned to the paddock in the middle of a race today won the Chase at Windsor. Three started. Sandown, the favourite, fell at the first fence, and Roman Law at the second. Never Mind carried on and gained a lead over two fences. Roman Law was remounted and chased Never Mind, whose jockey gave up and cantered back to the paddock. Meanwhile Roman Law's jockey could not persuade the horse to continue and also gave up, whereupon Never Mind returned to the course and began again. It fell after two fences but was remounted and finished alone.
