AMERICAN TROOPS ARRIVE.
DISARMING OF PUPPETS. (N.Z. Press Association.—Copyright.) (Rec. 2.15 p.m.) TiEM'SIN, Sept. 30 The Americans have entered Tientsin to liberate 29,000 Allied captives, arrest war criminals, guard and care for 200,000 Japanese civilians and protect United States nationals and property.
The Americans will watch 232,000 Chinese puppet troops between the langtse luver and the Great Wall disarm.
The Japanese have had little peace or security in North China sinew the Japanese surrendered, reports the Associated Press correspondent in Tientsin, Pitched battles have occurred in the last six weeks between Japanese regulars, supported by Chinese puppet troops, aiiu units purported to be from the Communist Eighth Route Army. Ihe Associated Press correspondent in Chungking says the Government and Communist representatives are reported to have agreed to form an all-party political council with broad, final powers for handling the outstanding civil issues between the Kuomintang and the Communists until, a constitutional Government, is initiated.
