On Monday evening the performers’ group of the British Music Society mot in the Theosophical Hall. The convener for the evening was Miss I. Sutherland, who gave an interesting talk on folk songs and folk music through the ages, and- the development of folk music. The programme was as follow:—Vocal, Miss I. Sutherland “Summer is a’Comin' In”; Mrs W. Ilow'ley, “My Love is Like a Red Rod Rose.” “Drink to Me Only” ; piano, Miss M Carey; Norwegian and Finnish cradle songs; vocal, Miss K. Williams, German folk song; Miss I. Highet, “The Grass is Green,” “Maidens Three in Paris City”; Mr C. Bowick, “Floral Dance,’ “Were You There?”; Mrs W. Pearce, “Jock o’ Hazelden,” “Rowan Tree,” “Ca the Yewes to the Knowes”; piano, Miss M. Francis, folk music arranged by Mendeissohn; violin, Mrs F. Chittenden, “Miska and Panni.” “Tizian,” “Russian Dance”; vocal. Mr S. Freeman, ‘Bay of Biscay,” “All Through the Night, ‘Early One Morning”; Miss I- Sutherland, My Lord, What a Morning, I Want to be Ready”; piano, Mrs C. Bowick, “Caprice Viennois” (arranged by Kreisler).
