At the annual conference of the Power Board Engineers’ Association Mr H. Webb (Wanganui-Rangitikei) was elected president. Mr N.'M. Speer (Auckland) was elected president of the secretaries’ section, Mr T. H. Pickard (Dannevirke) auditor, and Mr It. A. h'redrickson (Horowhenua) an additional member of the executive.
Mr John Lindsay Simpson, for many years a representative of a woollen manufacturing company, who had been living in retirement in Wellington for some time, died on Monday. Born in Christchurch in 1879, he was a son of the late Mr and Mrs John Simpson, of Merivale. He took an active interest in Rugby football, and became one of New Zealand’s best-known referees. He aceoinpaijied the All Black team to Britain in 1924 and acted as line umpire in the match between New Zealand and Englanfl.
