NATIONAL SAYINGS
The popularity of National Savings as an investment medium was demonstrated in no uncertain manner in Palmerston North last week, when the record amount for any one week this year (outside of the loan periodl was reached. The splendid total of £6062 3s was recorded. All classes of the community contributed towards this amount —individuals and groups alike. Two country offices also obtained four figures, Dannevirko leading with £1283 3s, and Bulls being close up with £IOO9 ss. Three other offices reached the century mark, Levin getting £504 9s, Pahiatua £219 13s, and Feilding £133 16s. The 20 quota towns were maintained, but a few changes took place. ' Bulls returned to the list, but Ohau and Shannon dropped out—temporarily onlv, it is hoped. The district’s total last week was £9419 Bs.
