CRICKET AT SCARBOROUGH. LONDON, Sept. 2. In a match against Mr H. D. G. Leveson Gower’s eleven, a New Zealand side made 220. Leveson Gower’s eleven had 121 up without loss at stumps. The match is being played at the Scarborough Festival, the New Zealanders meeting a strong team. After winning t{ie toss New Zealand made a slow start. James scored only a single in 15 minutes before presenting a catch to short leg. Donnelly, in fine form, took five boundaries from Coxon, three in one over. Ridland helped to add 63 before giving second slip a low catch. One hundred went up in 90 minutes. New Zealand’s score at lunch was 130 for two wickets. After lunch Donnelly took his score to 100 before being bowled by Mat- - • thews. Morgan had increased his total to 46 when he was caught by Woods off Matthews. Donnelly cut and pulled with precision, and his fine innings included 14 fours. Morgan helped Donnelly to add 97 for the third wicket. A collapse ensued after Donnelly left, the last seven wickets falling for 52. Matthews bowled his last eight overs to capture four wickets, including Donnelly’s, for 25 runs. Hutton and Washbrook gave the home side a capital start, putting on 50 in 35 minutes.
