DROWNED IN CAR

(Press Assn.) GISBORNE. Sept. 3. When the car he was driving failed to negotiate a bend half a mile south of Te Puia, on the East Coast road, and crashed into a lagoon on Saturday night, the driver and one of ■ twee other occupants were drowned in the semi-submerged vehicle. The victims were Leading-Aircraftman Harold Morrison, aged 24, of Botorua, who iecently returned from the Islands, and Miss Joyce Wu-ifii, a domestic servant, of Tokomaru Bay. Minor injuries wore suffered by two other Maori girls, Hannah Toheriri and Josephine Moana, both aged 18, who escaped by breaking the windows of the car, winch fell on its side. _______
