FUNDS FOR UNRRA

INITIAL PAYMENTS. (Ilec. Noon.) LONDON, Aug. 19. Unrra lias issued a table showing the administrative and operative contributions by member nations up to August 16. The tabic is not intended to show what amount actually has been realised in cash, commodities and services, but reflects the action by member Governments to make available appropriations for Unrra against which detailed requests may be initiated. The table shows the United States Joint Chiefs of Staff have certified that the state of the war permits the transfer to Unrra of 350,000,000 dollars from LendLease appropriations. Under the existing Congressional authorisation of 1,350,000,000 dollars, an additional 550,000,000 remain to be appropriated. The sum of 157,181 dollars has been received from Australia as the final payment of administrative allocation ; and 800,000 dollars have been received from Russia. Contributions authorised or in pi'oeess of authorisation include: Australia, 38,400,000 dollars; Canada, 69,369,369 dollars; New Zealand, 8,476,000 dollars. South Africa, 19,135,000 dollars; and Britain, 322,400,000 dollars. The full total of the contributing countries is 1,878.486,348 dollars.
