Miss B. Hitchon, Dip, H.Sc,, tvlm was appointed to a position in connection with the Sarah Anne Rhodes fellowship in Home Science, lias enniincnced her duties in Palmerston North. Miss Jean Stevenson, who has been the guest of Mrs C. A. Small, of Itongopai Street, while visiting Palmerston North to address meetings in connection with her Y.W.C.A. work in India, will journey to Napier tomorrow to spend a holiday with her sister, Mrs W. A. Armour.

The monthly meeting of the Minesweepers 1 Comforts Circle was held yesterday, Mrs A. A. Langley presiding in the absence of Mrs D. Evans, who is recovering from an illness. Reports of the work accomplished during the month were presented by the conveners of the knitting, cake, sewing and spinning circles. Donations were acknowledged from the Sunshine Club, Mrs Evans’s sewing ' circle, Miss lfeid and an anonymous donor.

A review of the decision of the Government to refuse licenses for the importation of paper patterns for children’s clothing was urged by Mrs H. Ross (Nat., Hamilton) in notice of a question to the Minister of Supply (Mr Su'llivan) in the House of Representatives yesterday. She said there was a shortage of made-up garments for children, and in the absence of patterns it was most difficult for mothers to make the garments themselves. Lieutenant M. M. Oram, daughter of Mr and Mrs M. 11. Oram, of Palmerston North, who lias been serving us a member of the W.A.A.C. for the past two and a half years, latterly as adjutant at Camp, is enjoying a?fortnight’s retiring leave in view of her approaching marriage. She left today to spend a holiday in Christchurch. Before her departure fruu Miramar Miss Oram was made the recipient of a gift from tho Wellington officers.
