FRATERNISATION CHARGE
BRITISH OFFICER’S OFFENCE. LONDON. July 5.
The • first case against a British officer under the fraternisation ban was heard at Mindcn, when Lieutenant Charles Whenliam, R.A.0.C., married, aged 37, pleaded guilty to fraternising with a Gorman married woman on May 23. The prosecutor read a statement in which accused said that when he was having a walk near the woods a young German woman spoke to him. He suggested by signs that they go for a walk in the woods. One officer for the defence said accused, who had an unblemished character, iiad succumbed to sudden temptation. He had had his punishment in having to explain the affair to his wife. „ , . The findings of the Court will ho promulgated.
