PUBLISHERS’ TOUR

SURVEY OF DOMINION,

(Press Assn.) AUCKLAND, July o. Having completed their survey in Australia, two prominent figures in the American publishing business, Mr Whitney Harrow, vice-president of Charles Seribnor and Sons, New York, and Air Edward P. Hamilton, president of John Wiley and Sons, technical book publishers, New Y’ork, have arrived in Auckland from Sydney. They intend to spend about two weeks examining New Zealand conditions connected with publishing, after which they will return to the United States. The visitors are travelling under the auspices of the Office of War Information as special consultants and they were chosen for the survey by the United States Hook Publishers’ Bureau. Their conclusions may have far reaching effects on the publication and marketing of books in Australia and New Zealand. In an interview they said they represented all types of book publishing interests and were on a fact finding mission inquiring into present and pre-war conditions, as well, as post-war prospects in publishing, bookselling, and printing.
