TORCHBEARER GROUP

On Monday evening, in the Salvation Army social hall, members of the Torchbearer Group heard a first-hand account of the service rendered by the New Zealand Forces Club in Cairo, and in Italy, presented by Miss M. Gulliver, who served i'or over three years in the Middle East. Miss Gulliver emphasised the immensity of the organisation, its quarters, the amount of food distributed, and the diversity of (he services offered the troops. Although it was very hard work, Miss Gulliver concluded, it gave one a very great sense of satisfaction to be of service to our boys and to be able to bring them a touch of home. The chairman (Mr L. CVian) welcomed Miss Gulliver and Major Nccv© moved a vote of thanks.
