The cost of collecting the administrative rate was further discussed at a meeting of the Manawatu Catchment Board, when it was eventually decided that the board pay up to 5 per cent., but, where the local bodies which might take'the rate out of their general rate offer to make the collection for less than 5 per cent., their offers be accepted. The Horowhenua County Council advised that it would be prepared to collect the rate for 2i per cent, of the amount involved and others offered to collect for 5 per cent., but the majority front which replies had been received favoured 7£ per cent.
