AUCKLAND GAS SHORTAGE
(Press Assn.) AUCKLAND, April 18. Auckland gas consumers are again faced with the prospect of being without gas. A restricted service will operate tomorrow, but it is not expected that it will be possible to continue the day's service beyond the evening. "The present difficulties would have been entirely avoided but for the workers in the horizontal retort house refusing to charge sufficient retorts to produce the gas required," said the general manager of the Auckland Gas Company (Mr Worley). "This state of affairs has been going on for over a week and every effort fias been made to get to grips with the reason underlying the men's actions, but so far without success."
