BOWLING
PLAY AT NEW PLYMOUTH
(Special) NEW PLYMOUTH, Mar. 6. Steady rain late this afternoon brought the matches in the fourth round of the New Plymouth Bowling Club’s tournament to a standstill, play stopping for the day shortly before five o’clock. • The unfinished round will he played tomorrow morning. Playing a strong Kaponga team entered in the name of W. E. Scott, which J. Tyack skipped, Bary’s Palmerston North four had a splendid tussle, the issue being in doubt to the end. On the 24th head Palmerston North were lying several shots when Tyack wrested a howl for secori'd shot. Bary pushed it out and got four to lead by three on the last end, in which Palmerston North were one down when the skips went to play. Rary’s last bowl trailed the jack for two and Tyack failed to alter the position. The fourth game was against Cropp (Park Club) when play ended on the 16th head, Bary leading 20—14. Christiansen’s team beat A. K. Smart (New Plymouth) very comfortably, 26—12. In the fourth round, at the 17th head they were 11—17 against Turnbull (West End).
