TAXI SERVICES

(To the Editor.)

Sir, —I have noticed that many people in Wellington are dissatisfied with the taxi service there, and Wellington is not the only place where complaints of this nature arise. I recently had occasion to order a taxi to catch a train, and as the taxi did not arrive on time I rang the taxi office and w’as informed that they could not send me a taxi as nobody else in my particular district had booked a taxi for the same time that morning, and they' did not have enough petrol to make a special trip. I then phoned several other taxi drivers, but could not get a reply and missed my train, and was compelled to leave by a later one. Surely something could be done to prevent this sort of happening. lours, etc., Jit ATE TRAVELLER, Palmerston North.
