THREAT TO SWITZERLAND

TOTAL BLOCKADE POSSIBLE. WASHINGTON, Jan. 4

The partial economic blockade of Switzerland may be converted into virtually a total blockade if the Allied demands for , a cessation of help for Germany are not met, says the Washington correspondent of the New York Herald-Tribune. Washington critics of Swiss policy believe that the Swiss should do three things if they expect any more imports through the Allied blockade.

They should halt virtually all shipments of goods, particularly machinery and armament components, to Germany ; they should halt the traffic of goods and persons through Switzerland between the Italian and German borders ; and they should take militant and satisfactory steps to halt the use of Switzerland as a base for Germany's financial transactions with the outside world and for the concealment of Nazi assets.
