HRI ST MAS GREET Although our hopes for a victorious peace in 1944 have not been fulfilled, nevertheless the tremendous advances and gains made by the Allied Armies in achieving the freedom of Europe and the Pacific give us that assurance for the near future. We know that the restraining hand of a mericful Providence will never allow the forces of evil and beastliness to prevail if we stand fast in our faith of Justice and Right. Let us therefore in a spirit of humility, characterised with determination and unity, see that our boys—whether on land, sea or in the air—are backed with our utmost efforts in every sphere—whether in the mines, factories or on the land—in order to achieve the desired end . . . AN EARLY VICTORIOUS PEACE.
