WOODVILLE
A concert organised by Mr and Mrs B. Whittington and hold in the Institute Hall on Thursday evening attraclcd a large and appreciative audience. The Whittington Trio, which consists of Mr Whittington (flute) and his daughters Betty and Audrey (piano and violin respectively) flayed the opening itom. The juvenile play, "The Mad Tea Parly'," was well enacted by Miss Josic Worboys as Alice, John Bennett as Iho Mad Hatter. Mies Mary Powell as Brer Rabbit and Miss Lois as the Dormouse. The adult comedy was played realistically by Mr and Mrs Laurie Colter, Mrs T. Smith, Margaret Penn and Messrs S. Worboys and K. Strand. Musical items and cards provided the second half of the programme. Mr Whittington. who accompanied ihe choir, explained the origin of the numbers. Tho choir consisted of Airs Jones, senr., Misses I. Bassett and A. and B. Whittington and Messrs Charles. H. Powell, T. Smith, and Smalley. Mrs Pawcetl, of Wanganui, was accorded warm applause for her rendering of "An Old Violin" and for an encore sang "On the Road io tho laics." Misses A. and B. Whittington accompanied her. An elocutionary item by Mrs Sillifant was also encored. Prior to the programme concluding with further carols, Rev. A. R. J'cnn thtnked all for (heir attendance and the performers for their assistance.
