m FROM “THE SUNNY CORNER’ by Susan IF- • . "Whew- . . . What a week! Crowds of people in the store . . . dockets flying up the electric shoots . . . people hunting for presents and holiday clothes .... behind the scenes mail orders being attended. The packing and delivery department up to their necks in wrapping paper. ... It is a busy time but it’s fun and we wouldn’t miss it for worlds! * * * town will bo busier than ever tonight! There’s always something extra to huy for Christmas and perhaps I can make a few suggestions that will be helpful when later you join in the shopping whirl and find it so difficult to think just what you want! f Just as you walk in our main door on the ground floor you’ll find the Stationery Department. Ask to see the attractive leather covered “Engagement” books (wine, sky, bottle or black) at 2/6. Also the i dozen Christmas cards and envelopes at 1/11 pkt., featuring dog studies, plain verses, and old world studies. * * * IfAs a staff we certainly have a lot of fun with our various activities outside store life . . . the latest of which was our Christmas party last Wednesday. Talk about fun! From the Chief down to the youngest junior of the staff, w T e joined in the games, singing, dancing, supper and refreshments with great gusto. Talent that in many cases we hadn’t known existed amongst our staff members was brought into the limelight contributing a delightful surprise, and providing a boost to our social committee to sponsor more of these evenings in the NewYear. , » * * notice a display of attractive art silk table cloths on the Manchester Department counter tonight. The visitor at a gipsies’ Christmas party is requested to kneel by 'the fire; the hostess brings him a cushion to sit on, and as he tries to sit down she pulls it from him. This painful process is repeated three times, then in a low voice she says: “As I deceive you, so may I deceive the gorgio (non-gipsies)!” After that the visitor joins in the family feast! * * * the kiddies to a free ride on the “Flying Horse” in the Dress Department ... or on “Dapple Dolly,” our rocking horse in the Children’s Department. * * * 1T A welcome surprise packet of - “Nylon” bristle hair brushes arrived yesterday . . . strong, durable and so very suitable for Christmas giving and selling at 16/- in our Toiletry Section. * * * a bargarin : Novelty Compendiums complete with writing pad and envelopes, excellent value at only 1/-. * * * cool and attractive are our fine mesh art silk gloves in light and dark Navy, Brown, Wine and Black, in sizes 6j, 7 and 71 at 12/-, and requiring 2 coupons. • * » «[ “Janet” and I would like to reciprocate the kind wishes received from our readers and also to thank you - for the Christmas gifts with their accompanying notes of appreciation.
