PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
The Girls' Auxiliary held their Christmas sale on Saturday. There was a large attendance of parents and friends wishing to purchase Christmas novelties and household articles. The stalls were well stocked with goods, particularly the needlework and produce. Mrs Watson (P.W.M.U. president) opened the sale and Mrs R. L. C. Aitchison (G.A. president; thanked all who helped to'make the afternoon a success. The afternoon tea was in the capable hands of P.W.M.U. members. The stall holders were : —Needlework : Mrs G. C. Petersen, Mrs Glendinning, Miss A. Wilson, Miss N. Henderson, and Miss M. Waterhouse. Produce: Misses M. Niven and M. Belk. Cakes, ice cream and soft drinks: Misses I. Cranston, L. Warner, and I. Holland. White Elephant: Misses T. Wallace and N. llennie. Competition 'winners were : —Vase : Girls 13 years and under 17, Ethne Wilton 1. Shoulder spray: Girls 13 years and under 17, Ethne Wilton 1; 12 and under, Velma Moody 1. Mrs Morrison, of Rawhiti Avenue, held a gift afternoon the previous week at which friends brought many useful articles and novelties to add to the stalls.
