N.Z. AIRMEN AS RIFLEMEN
(R.N.Z.A.F. Official News Service.) SOUTH-WEST PACIFIC, Dec. 14. Five hundred Allied soldiers and New Zealand afrmen took part in a three-day rifle shooting competition arranged by Allied units here. The standard of the New Zealand competitors was very high. In the 200 yards application shoot, four New Zealand airmen tied with 24 points each, for an R.N-Z.A.F. prize for most points in the event. They were Cpl. F. V. Thompson (Auckland), Cpl. E. Wrigley (Christchurch), L.A.C. R. D. Fox (Auckland) and L.A.C. F. R. Griffiths (Pahiatua). In the aggregate of points L.A.C. Fox headed the New Zealanders with 97 points and Cpl. Thompson was second with 96. They occupied 18th and 21st place respectively in the aggregate competition.
