CLOTHING COUPONS

A statement regarding tho six-monthly rclca.se of clothing coupons on December 1 next was made by the Rationing Controller (Mr J. E. Thomas) today. Clothing coupons in the new ration book will be released as follows: —19 clothing coupons (numbers 41 to Jrf on sheet 14) and 4 wool coupons (numbers 7 to 10, alto on 6hcct 14) arc interchangeable and avail able for clothing, wool and household linen; 3 linen coupons (numbers 7 to 9 on sheet 15) arc available for household linen only. This means a change from the present system of restrictive rationing of wool, all types of which, both white and coloured, will now be available on all clothing coupons. As with previous issues, all people who, on December 1, are residing in hotels, hoarding-houses, aparli'ionthouses, institutions, and tho resident staff in hospitals where linen is provided arc to surrender household linen coupons numbers 7 to 9 on sheet 15 of the ration, book, to the proprietor. Sheet 14 in all ration book,s, except children's books, is perforated and in the case of residents of institutions may be lorn out and retained by the person lo whom the book is issued, for use separately where necessary. "Coupons in the supplementary ration books arc not affected," said Mr Thomas, "but are available from date of issue, and all clothing coupons except linen coupons may be used for purchasing wool as. well as clothing." ,
