WEDDING

HUNT—SULLIVAN.

A wedding of interest to the bridegroom's wide circle of friends in Palmerston North was solemnised at St. Matthew's Church of England, Manly, Sydney, on A.ugust 19, 1944, when Marjorie, only daughter of Mr and Mrs E. C. Sullivan, of Manly, was joined in matrimony with Lance-L'orporal John Edmund Hunt, younger son of Mr and Mrs A. J. Hunt, of Palmerston North. The Rev. Mr Ebbs officiated. The bride, who entered the church with her father, wore a charming frock of magnolia satin, the bodice of which featured a niched inset panol, forming a high neckline. The full skirt was caught at the waist with a pearl ornament, and the long train was edged with tulle pleating. The sleeves wore buttoned from elbow to wrist with tiny self-covered buttons. A threetiered cut tulle veil, which was arranged on a Juliet cap studded with pearls, leU to form a second . train. Sho carried a bouquet of cream freesias, ro'ses and maidenhair fern. The only bridesmaid, Miss Anne Esh'ek, wore a gown of turquoise blue, heavy taffeta, with a rue-hod bodies and heart-shaped neckjino. The full skirt was adorned with little velvet bows of the. same colour. Her stiffened net Dutch cap was also of a matching shade, f j-i sh ?- carricc l a sheath of golden daffodils. Iho bridegroom was attended by Corporal Maurice Sullivan as best man. Subsequently a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents, -Mrs Sullivan receiving her guests in a black model frock, with a shoulder spray of orchids. The usual toasts were honoured, and among the many cables received from Palmerston North was one from the bridegroom's parents. It is expected that tho bride will shortly arrive m jNew Zealand to join her husband, who has already returned.

BUNNYTHORPE INSTITUTE The November meeting of the Women's Institute was well attended and was presided over by Airs A. H. Faulkner, who welcomed several visitors and also expressed sympathy with all who had sickness in their homes. A report of tho sub-committee (associated guilds) was given by Mrs Faulkner and letters of appreciation for parcels received were read from servicemen overseas. A report of tho council meeting was given by the delegate (Mrs Northcott). Arrangements were made for the children's Christinas party, when all members will he tlio hostesses. Arrangements were also made to pay a visit to Miissey College. liaby Matthews was the recipient of a money box. The Golden Thread reading was given by Mrs and a competition was won by Mrs Matthews, 'the monthly competitions resulted.—Bloom : Mrs Weastell 1, Mrs Donald '->, Mrs Wood 3; cluster, Mrs O'Sullivau 1, Mrs Armstrong 2, Mrs Montgomery 3; sponge roll, Mrs Montgomery 1, Mrs Wood 2, Mrs Weastell 3; Christmas novelty, Mrs Guard 1, Mrs Wood 2, Mrs Harris 3; cabbage, Mrs Weastell 1, Mrs Wood 2, Mrs Harris 3. Next month's competitions will bo bloom and cluster, papier macho article, daintiest supper plate, one variety, and six pods of peas. The committee will act as the hostesses. Mesdames Powell, J. Pintold, Hyde, and Miss Hammond were the hostesses and served supper.
