STRIKE IN BRUSSELS
SEARCH FOR ARMS BEGINS. (N.Z. Press Association.— (Rec. 11.50 a.m.) BRUSSELS, Nov. 29 Belgian trade unions called a 24hour general strike today. Already 3000 post office and tramway workers, also heavy industrial workers, have obeyed. Government quarters, however, describe the situation as firmly in hand.
Only 80 of the city's 500 trams were operating in the streets today. Some of the trams were stopped by strikers and passengers were forced to walk. Wires and poles were pulled down.
The nation-wide search for arms is in full swing today. The police sm .oped on several areas in Brussels and seized rifles and ammunition.
Allegations by the resistance movements that British troops helped to disarm the workers and resistance members marching against Brussels from Mons are denied by British authorities and Sh.ef.
