TITLE OF FARMERS' UNION
(Press Assn.) AUCKLAND, Nov. 29. A sensation has been caused in Farmers' Union executive 6ircles by the registration by an Auckland group of the title chosen for the proposed combined primary producers' organisation. A joint meeting of the special committees representing the Sheepfarmers' Federation and the Farmers' Union on July 20 agreed that there should be a united organisation to be called the United Farmers' Federation of New Zealand. On October 30 the name, United Farmers' Federation of New Zealand (Auckland Province), was registered by the Auckland group headed by Mr H. M. Rush worth, president -of the Auckland branch of the Farmers' Union. The reason given for the registration is that this was a step towards the protection of the nssets of the branch executive, which has trading interests. The proposed national body is now faced with the job of selecting a new title.
Tn an interview Mr Rushworth said he had not the slightest desire or intention to load a revolt of Auckland farmers, nor to causo any further split among farmers. "Tho registration of the United Farmers' Federation of New Zealand (Auckland Province) was certainly not intended to block the registration of the United Farmers' Federation of New Zealand. "The Auckland body can see no reason why the registration of the Now Zealand body should not be proceeded with."
