MAGISTRATE’S COURT
Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M., presided at a sitting of tho Magistrate’s Court to-day. R. G. Parks, of Wavcrley, pleaded guilty by letter to a charge of driving without due care and attention in Princess Street. He had backed into a stationary motorcar and damaged it fp some extent. He was fined £2. T. Foster, farmer, ot Rongotea, was fined 10s for operating an unlicensed trailer in Palmerston North. B. 6. Russell, airman fitter, was fined £2 for having insufficient lights on a motorcycle. Geddes B. Merrylcos, of Dannevirke (Mr Ongley), pleaded not, guilty to a charge of stealing three gallons of petrol valued at 3s the property of the Government. It was alleged that he took the petrol from a tin in an Army 6tore while ho was a driver in the A.S.C. He was not now in the Army. After the hearing of evidence, the case was dimissed.
