EXTRACTS FROM "STANDARD" MAY 13, 1914.
Government House in Auckland had been damaged to the extent of £6OOO by a fire. A ball had been held the previous evening, a feature of which had been the electric lighting, and it was be'icved. that the fire had been caused through a fusion of the electric wires. Successful wireless telephony experiments had been carried out between Neuen (Germany) and Pola (Italy), a distance of 600 miles.
