PUPILS LEAVING SCHOOL
Boys leaving the Technical School went mainly to farms and manual trades, while more girls went into homes Ilian to any trade, although quite a number took on clerical and professional jobs or entered shops and warehouses, stated the prim cipal of the Palmerston North Technical School (Mr H M. Scott) in a report at a meeting of the Board of Governors. Of the 216 pupils who left the school last year, 121 were boys and 95 girls; 50 of the boys entered manual trades and 47 went on farms: 11 entered shops and warehouses and 13 went into other occupations. Thirty-seven of the girls went into homes, 24 entered clerical or professional positions, and 22 wont into shops or warehouses; seven , went into manual trades and five into other occupations. The rector of the Boas - High School (Mr J. Murray) stated that of the pupils who left school last year, 21 went on. to farms, 16 entered commercial houses, 15 went to the University, and 10 entered the Government service. Other positions taken were: Engineering (5). trades (5), shops (3), and Training College (2).
