RUSSIANS BOMB LWOW
GERMAN TRAINS SMASHED. LONDON, April 19. In advance of" Marshal Zhukov's armies. Russian aircraft made a concentrated raid on the important railway junction of Lwow, which was congested with trains carrying troops and equipment. Forty fires were started, and could be seen 100 miles away. South-east of Lwow a stubborn battle is being fought east and south of the Galician oil centre of Sta.nislawow. For the second day running the Germans launched strong counter-attacks with large forces of tanks and infantry, but they were beaten off by the Russians with very heavy losses to the enemy. In " Bessarabia the Russians have improved • their positions and ore threatening to outflank Kishinev. A report from Istanbul says that the crews of two Rumanian liners which have been laid up in the Bosphorus since Rumania entered the war have refused to sail for Sebastopol. The Commander-in-Chief of the Hungarian army (General Szombathelyi) has retired from his post of his own free will.
