FOXTON BEACH
The chairman (Mr J. A. Nash) was nominated to vote at local body elections on behalf of tho Foxton Harbour Board, at a meeting of the board today. Messrs W. E. Barber and _M. E. Perreau were asked to have repair work done to one of the board's houses. A number of transfers of leases were confirmed.
Mr Perreau asked if another builuing simi'ar to tho one used at tho camping grounds could be erected, as the existing kitchen was inadequate. Mr Nash mentioned that tho board did not get any appreciable return from tho campers, and tho question of the cost of providing further kitchen facilities would have to be considered. He suggested that the board might find there would be less worry if the sites were leased for a period to a person who would give attention to the grounds. He asked members to think over the suggestion and at a later date the subject -would bo brought up again for further consideration. Mr Perreau reported that several campers had suggested to him that the fees for camp sites were very low and that tho board should charge a higher rate. It was agreed that this was the case when tho conveniences recently supplied by the board wero brought into consideration. The chairman suggested that tho board ascertain the scales of fees, per printed schedule, of other boards before any action is token. It was agreed that tho board should meet at the beach and coneider the matter on the spot. _On tho motion of the chairman, appreciation of tho work Mr Perreau had done in recent years around the beach for the campers and for the board was placed on record.
