SERIES OF CHARGES

(Press Assn) CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 13 Cecil Selwyn Sapsford, a civil servant aged 52, appeared before Mr Levvey, S.M., in the Magistrate's Courti on charges of failing to account for sums of money. The charges were: On March 10, stealing £2 10s, the property of the Canterbury Provincial Patriotic Council; between July 15 nnd November 20, having received from R. T. Alston sums totalling £l9 10s, and requiring him to account for them to the New Zealand Supply Council, failed to do so; between April 29 and October 15, having received from A. and F. Reay, Ltd., R. L. Fairweather, Pyne, Gould and Guinness, Ltd.', P. G. Clements, Ltd., B. L. Hart, Ltd., Marcel Scheinwnld, Dure* ' Products, Ltd., and Daniel Clinton', sums . totalling £337 18s od on terms requiring him to account or pay these to the Ministry of Supply omitted to do so. Pleas of guilty were entered to the first two charges. '
