MORE POPULATION
VIGOROUS CAMPAIGN BY SETTLEMENT SOCIETY (Press Assn) WELLINGTON, Jon 12 According to Mr A. Leigh Hunt, chairman of the Dominion Settlement Association, 1944 will mark the prosecution of a vigorous campaign by the association, which intends to brino- home to the people its earnest conviction that the whole future course of New Zealand's welfare is bound up with the question of greater population. The association will shortly appoint a highly qualified lull-time organisermanager. . "Of all the post-war problems ot the British Dominions, particularly Australia and New Zealand, ' said Mr Hunt, "the imperative need tor a greatly-increased population stands out as most important." Throughout the last six months numerous public meetings have been convened and addressed by speakers provided by the association in the area extending from InvercargiU to Dargaville and have resulted in the establishment of committees of leading citizens enthusiastically pledged to organise their respective localities. It is intended to press for an early response to representations that already have been made to the Government on the matter.
