RUGBY FOOTBALL
The Manawatu Rugby Union, at a meeting last evening at which Mr A. M. Ongley presided, decided that on Saturday next a second grade seven-a-side tournament be held. Tho secretary (Mr G. A. Brown) stated that there was little chance of being able to use the Rugby Park grounds, which were very soft after the rain. ,In view of the fact that the grounds at Rugby Park would not be available, it was decided that the junior competition la? abandoned and that the five local junior teams be given the opportunity oi entering the senior competition. The drawing of the fixtures was left in the hands of Mr P. Skoglund and the secretary. The game, Army v. Air Force, was set down for October 9, and it will mark the closing of the season. The following senior teams have already boon entered for the seven-a-side tournament United, Linton, Air Force, Army, Ohakoa Air Force, and Eastbourne, Rongotea and Athletic (Wellington), Old Boys, Feilding Old Boys, Longburn, Kia Too, Marist and High School, juniors will have tho option of playing in the senior section.
