I. Galvin rode four winners, B. H. Morris three, and W. Broughton two. The old adage of horses for courses is well exemplified in the ease of Yogi. He .has previously raced most successfully at Awapuni and at the meeting just concluded won the principal. handicap each day. He was. produced in great order by B. H. Morris who also rode him to perfect ion.
Good Scout is a very consistent, but unlucky performer. He has a big string of second placings to bis credit, and, surprisingly enough, is still eligible for hack races. On the first day of (lie local meeting ho struck himself and did so again on Saturday. He will not race at Marten and returned south yesterday wdicre he will have a short spell. . From worked out. fairly well. _ Three horses were successful twice. Yogi, Pompit, and Sea Quex; placed horses on the first day who repeated the effort were Nightglass, Flying Spy, Good Scout, and Nighean. Placed runners the first day who won on Saturday were Barrosa, Kol Ragi, and High Cass. Duality won the first day and was second on Saturday.
Alchemy has been threatening to win a race for some time, but it was not until she was given all her own rules out in front on Saturday that she succeeded. It was a popular win for A. W. McDonald.
The two-year-old Gulf Stream again let liifl admirers down after having every chance and is likely to be at longer odds next time he races.
Poutatau finished better than anything in the open sprint and a retui'n to winning form does not appear to be far distant for him.
His friends will be pleased to learn that D. W. Redstone was well enough to leave hospital and return to his home at the week-end. It will bo some time yet, however, before he will be able to get about.
