WEDDING

BEARD—FORBES. On the afternoon of November at St. George’s Anglican Church, Seatoun, Wellington, tho wedding look place of Joan Althea, only duughtor of Mrs and the lato Mr John Forbes, of Broadway, Seatoun, to Graham Alexander, third son of Mr and Mrs E. G, Beard, of “Sandhurst,” Rangiolu, Rev. A. W. R. Parr, of Lyall Bay, officiated and Mr D. Neil-Koith provided the wedding music. The bride, who was given away by her uncle, Mr A, E. Nixon, looked charming in her wedding gown of pearl-tinted taffeta, fashioned with a long tight-fitting bodice, gathered at the back to form a train. The unusual neckline was of net, outlined with roulleaux, and the bodice was finished at the back with tiny buttons. The sleeves were softly gathered at the shoulder and fitted "to the wrist, and a double row of pearls was worn, also cream satin shoes. Iter filmy tulle veil was fastened with a topknot of orange blossom and she carried a bouquet of croam roses, lily of the valley, pale pink gladioli and carnations and maiden hair fern. Streamers of tulle, to which tiny posies were attached, gave a soft effect. Mrs Harry A’Court, cousin of the bridegroom, was matron of honour, and Miss Prudenco Nixon, cousin of the bride, was bridesmaid. Their picturesque frocks were of orchid taffeta, made on similar lines to the bride’s, with long-tight-fitting bodices, gathered to form a slight train of yokes of orchid net, outlined with roulleaux. Topknots of watsonias in orchid tonings were worn in their hair and they carried bouquets of flowers in orchid .shades with blue relief. Privato M. Mills, of Oroua Downs, was best man and Gunner lan Forbes, brother of the bride, was groomsman. Messrs Don Beard, anti Peter Nixon were ushers at the church. Following the ceremony the guests adjourned to the nearby residence of Mr and Mrs A’G'ourt, which had been lent for the occasion, and where a reception was held, only relatives and close friends being invited. Mrs Forbes received her guests wearing a smart ensemble of vieux rose and a wide black bat and black accessories. A shoulder spray of dark red roses completed her toilette. Mr and Airs Beard assisted, the latter wearing a floral frock in blue and mauve tonings, navv georgette coat and hat, navy accessories, and a shoulder spray of roses and fern. The reception rooms were gay with flowers in shades of pink and blue, and the bride’s table, decorated with pale pink carnations and sweet peas, was centred by the handsome wedding cake, made by the bride’s mother, iced in cream and banked with pink rosebuds and fern. A short loast list was honoured and when tho happy couple left later on their wedding trip they were given a rousing send-off. The bride travelled in a tailored suit of Wedgwood blue with matching hat, a cream georgette blouse, and navy accessories. The festivities continued iu the evening when a number of young people were entertained in honour of the occasion. During tho bridegroom’s absence in camp the bride will make her home with her mother at Seatoun.
