TRAGIC AIR CRASH

(Rec. 11.15 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 6. Eight persons were killed, two arc missing and a number were injured as the result of a British plane crashing last night into the middle ol Somersham village, Huntingdonshire, wrecking six cottages and damaging others. . When the plane got into difficulties the crew baled out and landed safelv. The crash caused a tremendous* fire which was visible for miles. Firemen, Home Guards, soldiers and airmen joined in the work of rescuing victims and recovering bodies from the debris. The plane cut off the roof of one house, but the occupants were downstairs and escaped. It then nont straight through another house and crashed into a cottage on the opposite side of the street.
