RACING-AT OTAKI

FOXTON CLUB’S MEETING. Beautifully fine weather prevailed for the Foxton Racing Club’s meeting which was held at Oraki to-day. There was quite a good attendance, and the track was in good order considering the recent weather.

Held in behind the leaders. Enlarge and Ring Scarf, in the early stages, the favourite Lady Spiral went to the front a furlong from homo in the Trial Stakes and won narrowly but well. Ring Scarf hung on for second and Great March, who was at long odds, came from well back for third. They were the only ones to be prominent. With A. Jenkins in the saddle, Circular Note was made, a strong favourite for the Piaka Hurdles and ho won very easily. Henry of Huntingdon and Siglow were the leaders for most of the way, but Circular Note reached the front at the home turn and, with the last fence down, came ou for an easy win. Siglow faded out badly and Vitcmcnt just beat Hyderabad for third place. The winner jumped well all the way, but Colossal Chief was never prominent.

The hot favourite in the Motuiti Hack Handicap, Dcolali, never let her opponents in. She quickly reached the front and won with her cars pricked. Nighean was handily placed throughout and just held off First Role for second. Leisurely was a poor fourth, but it was a very uninteresting race. .

After Sir Criisoc and Don Quex liaxl made the running to the straight in the Carnarvon Handicap, Red Dash came through fast and won comfortably. Sanction also came from the middle of the field to just cut Don Quex out of second place. The favourites, Classform and Triple Crown, were not prominent, but there %vae an excuse for the former, who developed a sore under the saddle. TRIAL STAKES. Six furlongs.—l-2 Lady Spiral, 8.5 (IV.
