CONVERSION OF CARS.

Two' 19-year-old soldiers, Arthur Hartley, of Wanganui, and Arthur Edward Key, of New Plymouth, pleaded guilty in the Magistrate's Court to four charges of converting cars to their own use and also guilty to five charges of stealing various quantities of benzino.' On the charges of car conversion they were sentenced to detention in a Borstal institution for' two years, and on the others were convicted and discharged. DetectiveSergeant Meiklcjohn stated to Mr 11. P. Lawry, S.M., that the ringleader in the escapades was a young man named Worlhington, who had been sentenced at Hamilton to two years' Borstal detention. The two before the. Court seemed unwilling to become decent soldiers, showing little interest in the work.
