WOMEN'S WORLD
("By Nanette.")
Miss N. Price, of Milverkm Avenue, has returned from a holiday spent in Napier.'
The friends of Mrs A. Jagger, of Foxton, who is an inmate of a private hospital; will bo pleased to learn that she is making satisfactory progress after a serious illness.
At the monthly meeting of the Girls' Music Club a talk on "The History of Music from Ancient to Modern Times" was given by the president (Miss E. Kawlins). Members contributed a programme of vocal and instrumental works. The A.N.A. ballroom was well filled when officers and men of an jnfantry regiment were hosts at a ball whicn proved to be one of the highlights of the dance season. Among the guests welcomed by Lieut.-Colonel C. J/rutt, M.C., and Mrs Pratt (the latter wearing a taffeta gown with black top and gaily striped full skirt and spray of cyclamens) were MajorGeneral N; W. Weir, Colonel C. Beard, Colonel Whyte and Mrs J. H. Whyte, Colonel and Mrs Could (Wanganui), Colonel and Mrs W. Straehan (Wanganui) and Mr B. J. Jacobs (Dominion vice-president of the U.S.A.) and Mrs Jacobs. Bright music was supplied by two regimental bands, and the many dancers entered into the spirit of gaiety and enjoyed themselves to the full, dancing continuing until the early morning hours. The supper tables were artistically decorated with spring flowers, the work of members of the Hospitality Club.
It was with great regret that the officers of the St. John Ambulance Association recently received the resignation, owing to ill-health, of Miss C. Lamerton, lady superintendent of the Nursing Division. At a gathering lick! in the St. John Nursing Division Hall in honour of Miss Lamerton, the District Officer (Mr H, Wilson) eulogised her services as lady superintendent; the progress and high standard of work maintained by the members was largely due to her untiring efforts and efficient organisation. Mr Wilson was happy to learn that Miss Lamerton's connection with the Nursing Division was not to be entirely severed as she would continue to be an active member without office. In making the presentation of a handsome handbag, Mr Wilson commented that the la-go number present testified to the popularity and high esteem in which Miss Lamerton was held by all members, and best wishes were conveyed to her for a complete and speedy recovery. Mr Ashcroft and Mr Dalgleish (secretary) endorsed the sentiments expressed by the District OfDccr, and Miss Lamerton responded.
