ROLES REVERSED
R.A.E. DAYLIGHT ACTIVITY. LONDON, April 17. "R.A.F. daylight activity over
German targets in France has reached such a pitch that it is like the Battle of Britain with tho roles of attackers and defenders reversed," says tho aeronautical correspondent "of the Times. The difference is that our attacks are not attended by the crippling and disproportionate losses which caused the Luftwaffe to abandon daylight operations for indiscriminate night raids." The Daily Mail's aeronautical writer says: "The R.A.F.'s object is to smash Germany's protective air screen ot fighters inNortliern Franco. Our command of the air is already sufficiently advanced to open the possibility of daylight bombing on a grand scale against German aerodromes and defence works in France. Highly-placed air circles are very satisfied with the progress of their carefully-thought-out plans. A significant result of the R.A.F. blows is that German longrange guns on the French coast have been apparently silenced. They and their crews are forced to remain hidden ill tunnels and chalk pits. It is over three weeks since the guns were ill action across the Channel."
